Aluminum die casting has high production efficiency.
Which materials are suitable for die casting?
Steel and stainless steel are not suitable for die casting, copper alloys can be die cast, aluminum alloys are more die cast, and zinc alloys can be die cast. What are the characteristics of these materials? TTM will share them briefly.
Customers often asked, can cast iron be die cast, can stainless steel be die cast?
Admittedly, many cast iron parts and stainless steel parts are cast, and the appearance and structure look complicated, and ordinary Machining cannot meet the requirements. Because such parts are cast, it is easy to think that die casting can also be achieved.
In fact, die casting production is mainly aluminum alloy die casting process. Die casting is a high-pressure and high-speed environment, allowing aluminum liquid to instantly fill the die casting Mold cavity, and the fluidity requirements are very high. However, steel, cast iron, and stainless steel do not meet such high fluidity requirements. And the melting point temperature is much higher than that of aluminum liquid. Therefore, the current die casting process is not suitable for the production of cast iron, steel, stainless steel and other materials.
Copper die casting is indeed a differential industry. The fluidity of copper alloys can be adjusted very high, so die casting can be achieved. Copper has a high melting point, so copper die casting causes serious damage to die casting Molds, barrels, etc.
In aluminum die casting, not all aluminum can be die cast, only those with good fluidity are suitable for die casting. Commonly used are ADC12, ADC14, aluminum silicon + magnesium, A360, A380 and some grades with similar composition to these grades. Materials that can be used for conventional casting, such as ZL101, ZL104, etc., are not used for die casting. Some industries also use ADC6 die casting through modification. There are also some aluminum alloy die castings with a usage rate of more than 99%. These special materials are still being tried in a small range and have not been widely promoted.
TTM currently uses a large number of ADC12 and A380 materials for die casting, and some parts also use aluminum silicon + magnesium.
